G-TECHNOLOGY 'SPEEDS' UP AN ALL-DIGITAL A/V WORKFLOW

New G-SPEED eS Pro with Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Connectivity Provides a Fast, Affordable RAID Storage Solution for Post Production Applications

Macworld Conference & Expo (Booth #1544), San Francisco, January 5, 2009G-Technology a Fabrik company and manufacturer of premium storage solutions for the Apple® Mac® community, today announced the new G-SPEED eS Pro storage solution with mini Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) connectivity that provides professional content creators Fibre Channel-like performance at a fraction of the cost. Bundled with a high–speed, eight–lane PCIe RAID controller that supports RAID levels 0, 1,3, 5 and 6, the G–SPEED eS Pro offers unprecedented speed for audio/video (A/V) professionals working with uncompressed HD and 2K footage. A single, four–drive G–SPEED eS Pro unit in RAID 0 delivers a data transfer rate of up to 330MB/sec read and 440 MB/sec write performance. Connect two units together in fail–safe RAID 5 and performance goes up to an amazing 675MB/sec read and 450 MB/sec write.

"The G-SPEED eS Pro is a must–have for any production house. It cuts through video like butter," said Roger Mabon, vice president of Fabrik's G–Technology product group. "Often a Fibre Channel-based solution is out of the question, or beyond the budget for that matter. In today's tough economy, A/V pros need a high performance, low cost solution to get the job done effectively, efficiently and reliability – their livelihood depends on it. We are confident that our new G–SPEED eS Pro drive provides these qualities with the highest sustained data transfer rates to undertake the most demanding applications."

The new G-Technology G-SPEED eS Pro features include:
  • RAID 0, 1, 3, 5 and 6 - easily configurable and managed via a browser-based GUI
  • Single unit supports multi-stream compressed HD, ProRes 422, and single stream uncompressed HD playback
  • Two units support dual-stream HD playback and a single stream of 2K
  • Professional, locking mini SAS port with mini SAS cable included
  • Storage capacities available up to 6TB per unit, scalable to 12TB
  • Compact and stylish aluminum enclosure with thermo-regulated cooling fans
  • Hot-swappable disk drive modules
  • Formatted HFS+ mounts on a Mac Pro desktop right out of the box
Available in March 2009, the G-SPEED eS Pro starts at $2,399 MSRP for a 3TB unit, including the eight-lane PCIe RAID controller card. All drives come with a standard three-year factory warranty. For more information, please visit
